Position

The Direct Support Staff`s primary job function is the provision of direct supervision and special services to clients. Direct Support Staff will provide care, supervision, training and support to promote the clients functioning in the areas of self-care, daily living skills, physical coordination, mobility, behavioral self-control, choice-making, community integration, accessing community resources and participating in leisure time activities. Additionally, Direct Support Staff will provide specialized training, treatment, and/or supervision required by the consumers` program plan. The employee is also required to maintain a clean household environment, provide household and grounds maintenance, and provide basic office management duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current AIDS Awareness Training.
• Maintain First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Health screening report including TB clearance.
• Must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
• Sign a criminal record statement.
• Livescan background clearance received from Community Care Licensing BEFORE working in the houses.
• Able to read/write English well enough to read and document in the client record.
• Must possess valid CA driver license and maintain current automobile liability insurance.
• Clean Driving Record (No more than 3 traffic violations in a 3-year period excluding parking tickets).
• Six months experience providing direct supervision and special services and within six months of hire complete at least 12 additional hours of continuing education.
• Successful completion of the competency-based training and passage of the competency test for Direct Support Professionals 1 and 2 prior to working
• Successful completion of CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (including team control positioning and CPI transport positioning) and maintain current CPI Certification.
• Must provide proof of employment authorization and identity within three days of being hired.
